VMworld 2020 was
- completely virtual
- for the very first time
- 48 hours of sessions non-stop
- 930 sessions are now available on-demand
For me personally, it was the first VMworld I attended. In the past years, I watched only the General Sessions as they were accessible online as stream.
For me, the VMworld momentum started off with a virtual TAM meetup. TAM colleagues from all GEOs (AMER, EMEA and APJ) stopped by. It was great to meet so many of my peers. I am really happy that it worked and that we had fun. #TAMsrock
Back to VMworld. Before VMworld 2020 kicked off for EMEA, I participated in one of the OpeningActs panels.
VMworld 2020 included sessions on
- Vision and Innovation
- Multi-Cloud
- App Modernization
- Virtual Cloud Network
- Intrinsic Security
- Digital Workspace
- Telco 5G
When I added sessions to my schedule, I tried to cover all channels. It was a challenge because there were so many interesting sessions to choose from.
Two of my personal favorites are Professional Development sessions from the Vision and Innovation channel.
- ETPD2087: Achieving Happiness: Building Your Brand and Your Career
- ETPD1986: Finding My Way – Who Am I, and What I Can Offer
The reason, both sessions strike home is that I can relate to both. I am keen to develop new skills, use the knowledge and be able progress in my career. Building my brand, knowing which route I want to take is more important than I had thought before those two sessions.
Other favorites are the Solutions Keynotes:
- DW2716: Journey to a Future Ready Workforce
- OCTO2966: Innovation@VMware – The CTO Perspective
Both keynotes give you an idea of how much VMware will help to shape the future of IT. With the current pandemic, more employees are working more from home than ever before. But without being future ready companies can run into challenges to survive on the market.
So, if you missed VMworld or some of it, take a look at all the news and announcements from VMworld (VMworld 2020 Media Kit).
The team behind the VMworld scenes had also included a concert. VMworld attendees had the chance to see and listen to John Legend, giving a concert from his home.
I enjoyed the concert. And it hit hard the next day when the new came out that John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen lost their unborn child due to complications. I think everybody sent thoughts and prayers.
