It is November 19, 2020! It is almost a week after a Friday 13th. It is another 36 days until Christmas Eve, Heiligabend. But – it is also . . . the opening day for the vExpert 2021 applications.
Back in June 2020, I wrote a first introductory post about vExpert. At this time, I was not sure if I am ready to apply for vExpert. But I wanted others to think about. After the applications period closed, I have put more and more thoughts into this and I decided, once the next vExpert applications open, I will go for it. And – this is exactly what I will start doing today.
In preparation for the application, I created an account. I filled out my profile and will make sure it is always up to date. So I won’t miss exclusive any vExpert program opportunities or swag.
As additional preparation, I reached out to a VMware TAM* colleague who is a vExpert for a few years now and also has been in the ranks of a vExpertPro. I talked with him to understand what I need to write a good application and to understand what I need to do to have a chance that my vExpert application is accepted. After the talk he gave me a thumbs up!
I learnt from my colleague that as a VMware employee, I can apply for the so-called Evangelist Path. To complete the information about the different paths you can apply for in the vExpert program, I link to a post he has written on the different paths of Evangalist, Customer and VPN (VMware Partner Network).
So today is the day, I will start my application for vExpert. I will update the post after I completed my application. But I appreciate if you keep your fingers crossed for me. I wish good luck and success to everyone who like me is applying for the very first time to be officially a vExpert.
Update
It’s done! I have submitted my application!
As this was my first application for vExpert, I used the given example of an application as reference.
I already received the confirmation email that my application has been submitted.
Now I have to wait patiently until February 2021 for the announcement.
Keeping fingers crossed for everyone, including myself.
