VCTA – A New VMware Certification

You might have heard – or you might not have heard that VMware announced at VMworld 2020 a new certification level. The new certification is called VMware Certified Technical Associate – short VCTA.

Until now the VCP (VMware Certified Professional) certification was the certification for IT professionals working with VMware solutions started with. The VCTA certification is NOT a requirement for doing the VCP. VCTA is a first step for proving your operational skills with VMware solutions.

The training for VCTA is available online through VMware Customer Connect Learning. If you are ready for taking the exam, you can register online for it and have the choice of taking the exam at a Pearson VUE test center or using the Pearson OnVue remote proctored solution.

On a side note: I have taken an exam at a Pearson VUE test center and also with Pearson OnVue remote proctored. Both options have the advantages and disadvantages. If you are nervous when you take an (online) exam, doing it from your home(office) might calm your nerves but if you need neutral surroundings to not get distracted the choice for the test center might be the best.

VMware has provided a VCTA FAQ in PDF format and offers a webinar, taking place on October 27, 2020, for you to learn more about it.
